Services
Burial Plot
All members and their beneficiaries will be entitled to get a burial plot free of charge, depending on availability of plots.
Membership fee:
- $160 for a Family (Father, mother, and unmarried children).
- $80 for Single (Individuals/International students)
Terms & Conditions
- The member should be of Sri Lankan origin or married to a person of Sri Lankan origin.
- The member should be living within the service area of SLJSNW (refer to the area map below).
- Beneficiaries must be living as the same address as the member and can include spouse and unmarried children.
- At the time of service, the membership should be active (fully paid) for that calendar year.
- Any active (fully paid for the current year) member and his/her direct family members will be eligible for a free burial plot.
- If any of the visiting parents of a member pass away, the Janaza Scheme can allocate the burial plot as a service. The member is required to pay the cost of the burial plot within an agreed period.
- Non-member: If a non-member of a Sri Lankan community passes away, the Janaza Scheme can assist in allocating the burial plot. Family members of the deceased are required to pay the cost of the burial plot within an agreed period.
- SLJSNW executive committee has the right to decide under special circumstances.
- The services provided by the SLJSNW are subject to availability.
- Membership period is from 1st of January to 31st of December each year.
- The membership fee is non-refundable. There is no pro rata in the membership fees.
- These terms and conditions are subject to change at the Annual General Meeting.
Financial Assistance
We aim to financially assist the family of the deceased to cover other burial costs through loans.Training
We conduct training & education programs in relation to final rites to the community.

Initial steps at the time of Janaza
a. If the death occurs at home.
1. Call 000 & request for an ambulance.
2. Contact the family doctor (GP) & obtain a death certificate.
In case of visiting parents, take them to your family GP at arrival.
3. If no doctor is available, follow the ambulance staff's advice to obtain the death certificate.
b. If it is at a hospital
1. Work with hospital authorities to obtain the death certificate (pink form).
